Dear friends,
As Elected President of the International Avocado Society, I have the privilege to welcome all the people attending the VI World Avocado Congress, wishing you a very pleasant stay in Chile.
I would like to recognize and acknowledge the contribution of every researcher who is representing the main countries involved in the avocado industry, who participated in the Scientific Committee; which had a very difficult mission: select the papers that you will be able to know and enjoy during these days.
The great quantity and quality of all the received researches, coming from several countries of the five continents, deserve a special mention. The active participation in this Congress of researchers, who in addition to working on Persea americana, also include other varieties different from Hass, is remarkable.
In order to keep strengthening our organization, I consider that generating and developing more permanent activities is necessary. Therefore, I invite everybody to support the creation of a Scientific Publication that belongs to the Society and where we will be able to publish the results of our researches.
Finally, I would also like to thank all the people who have worked for months to make this VI World Avocado Congress possible. My special gratitude to those who have expressed understanding, specially to my beloved children.
